A service is 2 p.m. Friday at St. Gall Catholic Church for eight-year Gardnerville resident Charles F. Hill Jr., 63, who died June 6, 2008.

Born April 2, 1945, in New York to Charles F. Hill Sr. and Norma Marie Gradel, Mr. Hill graduated in 1967 from Plattsburgh University in New York with a teaching degree.

He moved to Gardnerville in June 2000 coming from Hollydale, Calif. He was a member of St. Gall Catholic Church.

Mr. Hill loved hiking, camping, and working in his yard.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother Norma Marie Hill of Gardnerville; sisters Peggy Cappaletti of Pomona, Calif., and Elaine Kyle and husband Mark of Kent, Wash.; nieces Robyn Young and Janice Stilwell; great nieces and nephews Melissa, Emily, Joshua and Jacob.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Gall Catholic Church. Arrangements are in the care of Capitol City Cremation & Burial.

A memorial service is 11 a.m. Monday at Walton's Funeral Home in Minden for former Minden residents Robert M. and Barbara Blenkinsop.

Mr. Blenkinsop, 87, died May 24, 2008, in Fresno Calif., and will be buried at the Garden Cemetery. Mrs. Blenkinsop died Oct. 10, 2005.

Born Aug. 13, 1920, in Parma, Idaho, to William Blenkinsop and Agnes (Rooney) Jones, Mr. Blenkinsop began his working life in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Mr. Blenkinsop loved hunting and fishing.

He joined the U.S. Army prior to World War II. He returned home a highly decorated veteran of the African-Italian campaigns. He continued to serve during the Korean and Vietnam wars, retiring from the service on March 1, 1970. He then continued working as a machinist well into his 70s. He loved to travel and went to his last recreational vehicle rally this year.

He married Louise Imus of Boise, Idaho, and Barbara Willson Blenkinsop of Minden. He cared for Barbara for five years until her death. Both preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death are brothers William and James Blenkinsop; sister Phoebe Smith; and children Judith Sparkman and Larry Willson.

He is survived by children, Larry Blenkinsop and his wife Teresa, Janis Dixon and her husband Mike, Sharleen Blenkinsop and Janet Adams; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, among them Greg Mattern who was there for him during the last failing years.

Donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.

A funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday for Coleville resident and native Nevadan Bill Lovett, 68, who died June 5, 2008.

Born March 27, 1940, in Schurz to Melba Thompson and Andrew Lovett, he attended school at East Walker in Yerington.

He worked as a mechanic, miner and oil worker for U.S. Pumice, Union Carbide, Honeywell and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Western Nevada Agency " Fire Management. He was active in local Indian government and community services.

Mr. Lovett is survived by his wife of 47 years, Delores; sons Calvin Cortez, Alvin Cortez, Bill Lovett Jr., and Elliot Lovett; daughters Pamela Lovett and Ann Espinoza; 14 grandchildren; 12 grand-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy Ann Speaker

1956-2008

A private memorial service is scheduled for Peggy Ann Speaker, 52, of Carson City, who died June 4, 2008.

Born Jan. 31, 1956, Mrs. Speaker is survived by her mother Ruth Hieb; two children; significant other James; three sisters; a brother and other friends and family.
