Wacky Waddlers weady to wace

The 16th annual Wacky Waddlers' Wiver Wace is Sunday at Lampe Park. The sale of the wacky waddler rubber ducks benefits the Carson Valley Community Food Closet.

Tickets sold at Scolari's Market; Candles & Crafts, 1540 Highway 395, Suite 2; Pat Cardinal at Re/Max Realty, 1320 Highway 395 and at the Carson Valley Days Parade on Saturday.


Ice cream social at library Wednesday

Make ice cream sundaes and purchase raffle tickets for prizes to benefit the library foundation at the Douglas County Public Library's ice cream social, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the CVIC Hall, 1602 Esmeralda Ave., Minden.

The foundation uses funds to support library services, materials and programs. Raffle tickets may be purchased at the Minden library and at the Scholastic Community Book Fair 3-9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the CVIC Hall. Information at 782-9841 or douglas.lib.nv.us.


Chautauquans at Mormon Station

The Young Chautauquans give free performances, 5-7 p.m. Wednesday and Thurday, at the Mormon Station State Historic Park in Genoa. The characters to be represented include Marie Curie, Walt Disney, Betsy Ross, Jacqueline Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, Joan of Arc and Dr. Eliza Cook. Musical entertainmentevent provided by emcee Mike Maloney.

Pony Express and 'Snowshoe' Day

Pony Express re-ride and Snowshoe Thompson Day at the Genoa Court House Museum 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday. The rider is expected in Genoa at 8:30 a.m. Snowshoe Thompson events include a visit from Don "Snowshoe" Thompson and the singing of the Norwegian national anthem. Information, 782-4325.


Swap meets start

The Douglas County Historical Society will hold swap meets beginning June 21 in the parking lot of the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville.

More swap meets are planned for June 28, July 12, July 26, Aug. 9, Aug. 23, Sept. 13 and Sept. 27.

There are 10-by-10 booths are available for a $10 rental fee, or $20 if rented on the day of the meet. The meets are open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Information and applications at www.historicnevada.org or the front desk of the Gardnerville museum. Information, 782-2555.
