The Douglas County Building Industry Association is selling raffle tickets to help raise funds for Douglas High student Julie Rodriguez, who had a liver transplant.

Builders have donated their time, materials and labor to build four playhouses to be raffled off at Carson Valley Days.

Winning tickets will be drawn on Sunday. Winners need not be present to win.

The playhouses will appear on the builders' float in the Carson Valley Days Parade.

Tickets are $5 each or six for $20

The family's request for federal assistance in the form of Medicare and Medicaid was denied because Julie was not born in the U.S.

In December, Julie suffered from liver failure. She was taken by helicopter to Stanford University Medical Center for a liver transplant where she fell into a coma.

Julie received a liver transplant over New Year's.
