A six-run fourth inning propelled the Nevada Bighorns to an 8-4 victory over College of Marin at Western Nevada College on Sunday.
The Bighorns, who improved to 5-1 on the season, sent 10 batters to the plate in the frame against the Merchants, taking a 7-1 lead and, with the victory, swept the three-game series.
The Bighorns won the Saturday twinbill, 8-4 and 11-6.
Stephen Bautista, who pitches for the University of Nevada Wolf Pack, went four innings in earning the win.
Bautista struck out seven Merchants, allowed one run, three hits and two walks.
Former WNC and current Pack standout Tyson Jaquez paved the way offensively for the Bighorns, going 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.
Marshall Kennebrew batted .600 in the series against the Merchants, going 3-for-4 on Sunday with one RBI.
Merchant went a combined 3-for-6 on Saturday.
Carson High School graduate Royal Good, who plays for New Mexico State, went 1-for-2, with an RBI.
Tommy O'Brian (1-for-3) and Jeff Young (1-for-3) each batted in a run for the Bighorns, who also got some offense from Ryan Lane and Nick Nyman, each of whom finished 2-for-3.
The Bighorns travel to Moana Stadium for their next game. They will meet the Reno Astros in a 7 p.m. contest on Wednesday.
