Other people's business

June 8 will mark 25 years of business for Minden chiropractor Stuart Pardee.

Pardee and his wife Veronica moved to Carson Valley in 1983 with only $192 to their name. Fresh out of school and unable to secure a bank loan, the couple built up the practice together.

Veronica Pardee managed the office. Stuart Pardee designed and built treatment tables and office equipment. They used their dining room chairs in the waiting room. They put their bed in one of the treatment rooms in their office and lived there for seven months.

"I went to every bank in Northern Nevada trying to secure a loan to start my practice," said Pardee. "No one believed I would succeed, so everyone turned me down. I still bank with the bank that turned me down the nicest."

Twenty-five years later Pardee is still in business. He has been voted "Best Chiropractor in Carson Valley" seven years in a row by the readers of The Record-Courier.

The Pardees will celebrate their 25 years in Carson Valley with an open house 4 to 7 p.m. June 11 at Minden Chiropractic, 1698 County Road. Call 782-5143 for more information.

Pamper U & Exquisite Massage has moved to the Haas Center in Gardnerville.

The full service nail salon and massage parlor is hosting a grand re-opening 4 to 8 p.m. June 9 at their new location, 1516 Highway 395, Suite D.
