The Town of Gardnerville's Movies in the Park presents the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra entertaining with show tunes before the classic movie, "Citizen Kane," on Aug. 15. The movie begins at dusk in Heritage Park, a block east of Highway 395 off Gilman.

The last movie of the summer is Disney's "Meet the Robinsons" on Sept. 5. Information, www.gardnerville-nv.gov.


Acoustic jam at Eddy Street

Local musicians are invited for an acoustic jam, 2:30 - 5 p.m. Aug. 24, at the Eddy Street Book Exchange. Musicians of any acoustic instrument of any level of experience or those who don't play but want to sing along are welcome. Minden

Carson Valley Inn entertainment

The Palmore Brothers appear through Sunday and various duos entertain on Monday nights. Cabaret Lounge entertainment is presented with no cover and no minimum in 45-minute shows at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 p.m.

The Palmore Brothers Band features a sound to which you'll love to dance. John Palmore was the musical director, keyboardist and arranger for the original Drifters. Bassist Charles Palmore was the lead and background vocalist for the original Drifters. Completing the quartet are Scott Kline on drums and Joey Lester on congas and vocals.

Tina & the Tune-Ups take the Cabaret Lounge stage Tuesday and play until Aug. 10. Tina & the Tune-Ups perform a repertoire of popular songs, including a costumed tribute to the '50s and '60s. The group is Tina Fink on keyboards and lead vocals, Ray Rodarte on lead guitar and vocals, Gary Setzer on drums and Dave Edwards on bass.

Wild Willy Strickland returns 7 p.m. today to the Genoa Bar, Nevada's Oldest Thirst Parlor. The singer/guitarist/keyboardist, who's been called the world's fastest song writer by Lacy J. Dalton, lives in Virginia Highlands and plays dates with Dalton at Piper's Opera House. He's played at the Silver Dollar Saloon, the Bucket of Blood Saloon, sings classic country, outlaw country, Sinatra, Stevie Ray Vaughn and is known for his Johnny Cash tribute.

The Genoa Bar offers a free juke box 6-10 p.m. Tuesdays and free pool 6-10 p.m. Wednesdays.
