Road crews finally got around to closing Muller Lane for work on Wednesday. It's supposed to stay closed 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday, but we'll see what the delay did to the work schedule.

Couple of things you can do with the Kinder today, including the Elks Carnival in Lampe Park and this evening, the Douglas County Library is hosting its Creepy, Crawly Critters program 1 p.m. at the Zephyr Cove Park gazebo and at 7 p.m. in Minden Park. Firefighters were able to get a lasso most of the way around the Gooseberry fire, which grew to 3,042 acres. They expect to have the blaze north of Reno surrounded by 6 p.m. today.

August nights may not be so hot, after all, at least for the first week anyway. The lows are pegged right around 50 degrees in the National Weather Service forecast for the next few days. The highs are going to be too bad, either, hitting 93 today and Friday and then cooling a tad over the weekend.
