Acoustic jam at Eddy Street Book Exchange

Local musicians are invited for an acoustic jam, 2:30 - 5 p.m. Sunday at the Eddy Street Book Exchange. Musicians of any acoustic instrument of any level of experience or those who don't play but want to sing along are welcome. Rosebud and Pops in the park Aug. 15

The Town of Gardnerville's Movies in the Park presents the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra entertaining with show tunes before the classic movie, "Citizen Kane," on Aug. 15. The movie begins at dusk in Heritage Park, a block east of Highway 395 off Gilman Avenue.

The last movie of the summer is Disney's "Meet the Robinsons" on Sept. 5. Information, .gardnerville-nv.gov.


Minden

Carson Valley Inn entertainment

Shabang appears through Sunday and various duos entertain on Monday nights. Cabaret Lounge entertainment is presented with no cover and no minimum in 45-minute shows at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 p.m.

Shabang entertains with classics from rhythm & blues, country and good ol' rock 'n' roll. Chuck May plays guitar and sings as he has for such acts as Little Richard, Bo Diddly, Chubby Checker, the Shirelles, Conway Twitty and Barbara Mandrell. Crystal Taylor is lead singer, Danielle Salomon is on bass and vocals and Jason Reed is drummer and vocalist.

The Palmore Brothers Band takes the Cabaret Lounge stage Tuesday and plays until Aug. 3. The Palmore Brothers Band features a sound to which you'll love to dance. John Palmore was the musical director, keyboardist and arranger for the original Drifters. Bassist Charles Palmore was the lead and background vocalist for the original Drifters. Completing the quartet are Scott Kline on drums and Joey Lester on congas and vocals.

The Bar BQ Boys entertain by the patio and pool, Saturday at David Walley's Resort, Hot Springs & Spa, 2001 Foothill Road in Genoa. The Bar BQ Boys play musical genres from bluegrass, classic rock, blues, country to reggae. The band is Johnny Walter on upright bass and harmonica, Robert Smile on guitar, Paul Cutunilli on mandolin and vocals, Tom Goodlunas on fiddle and vocals and Michael Chambon on banjo, dobro and vocals.


Thirst parlor happenings

The Genoa Bar, Nevada's Oldest Thirst Parlor, offers a free juke box 6-10 p.m. Tuesdays and free pool 6-10 p.m. Wednesdays. Wild Willy returns, 7 p.m. Aug. 1.
