The R-C Morning Report

There's a free concert tonight of the Continental Worship Band 6:30 p.m. at the new First Baptist Church of Minden-Gardnerville. This sounds like an opportunity for the curious to take a look at the new church and enjoy some music at the same time. For information, call 782-5513.

The Elks are having the rest of us in for tacos 5-7 p.m. at the Lodge, located on Pit Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Tacos are running $1.50 each.

The sunrise is tinted pink again as smoke from the California fires continues to flow through Western Nevada on its way east. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration satellite, the plume is trending northeast through Idaho and Montana on its way to Canada. There are still 32 active fires burning in California. So far Nevada's been quiet on that front, knock on wood.

It's going to be sunny today with a high temperature of 94 degrees. The zephyr will pick up in the afternoon with winds 10-15 mph and gusts of up to 20 degrees.
