Movies in the Park continue July 18

The Town of Gardnerville's Movies in the Park presents "E.T." at dusk July 18 in Heritage Park.

Movies continue with the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra entertaining with show tunes before the classic movie "Citizen Kane" on Aug. 15 and Disney's "Meet the Robinsons" on Sept. 5.

Tickets available for jamboree

David John and the Comstock Cowboys, the Saddle Tramps, Macho Jonny and Roaddaddy are the bands performing at the Carson Valley Jamboree presented by the Austin Kirby Foundation, noon to 8 p.m. July 20 on the Park Cattle property at Highway 395 and Muller Lane. Event includes tri-tip sandwiches, hot dogs, Indian tacos, crafts, car show and raffles. Tickets for the Austin House fundraiser are $20 for adults and $5 for children under 12 and are available at www.cvjamboree.org.


Acoustic jam at Eddy Street Book Exchange

Local musicians are invited for an acoustic jam, 2:30 - 5 p.m. July 27 at the Eddy Street Book Exchange. Musicians of any acoustic instrument of any level of experience or those who don't play but want to sing along are welcome. Comstock Cowboys in the park tonight

The Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department's Summer Family Concert Series in Minden Park continues with David John and the Comstock Cowboys, 6:30-8:30 p.m. tonight. The Comstock Cowboys are sponsored by Buffalo Creek Ranch and co-sponsored by Brooke, Shaw, Zumpft, Attorneys at Law.

Next in the concert series are the Surf All-Stars on July 25 and the Michael Powers Group on Aug. 29. Information, 782-9828.


Carson Valley Inn entertainment

Sidro's Armada appears through Sunday and various duos entertain on Monday nights. Cabaret Lounge entertainment is presented with no cover and no minimum in 45-minute shows at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 p.m.

Sidro Garcia and his Armada bring a show of six lead vocalists, lots of brass, comedy and choreography. The band performs classic and contemporary rock, country, rhythm and blues, Latin tunes, ballads and standards.

The Hitmen take the Cabaret Lounge stage Tuesday and play until July 20. The Hitmen play classic rock 'n' roll from the '50s through the '80s as well as contemporary tunes and had played together for more than 10 years as the backup band for Louie Fontaine and the Rockets.

The group is Bruce McCormack on keyboards and vocals, Tom Dickson on guitar and vocals and Jhan Hansen on drums and vocals.
