Story time is 10 a.m. every Wednesday until Aug. 27 in Lampe Park on Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville. Children 3 and older are invited to listen to stories, poems and make crafts.


Catch the reading bug at the Douglas County Public Library at Children's Game Day. Children 6-12 are invited to play Wii Mario, Sonic at the Olympic Games and other video games, 3-5 p.m. Mondays.

Game Day dates:

July 14 for ages 8-12

July 28, for ages 6-12, bring your dad or grandfather

Aug. 4, bring your mom or grandmother

Sign up at the library at least two days prior to programs.


The Dragon Slayers, the Douglas County Public Library's Teen Advisory Board, hosts Teen Game Day, 3 p.m. July 18, at the Douglas County Public Library,1625 Library Lane in Minden.

The free program is for ages 12 and older and features Nintendo Wii games, Guitar Hero III, Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party. Ice cream will be provided.

Sign up is required by July 16 for this program. Teen Game Day is sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library and the Dragon Slayers.


Dennis Little will present a program on origami 4 p.m. July 21 at the Douglas County Public Library in Minden. Little will tell the history of Japanese paper folding and bring examples of his projects.

Children and adults are welcome to create fish, Olympic medals, cranes, boxes and other projects. Parents may help younger children with their projects. Sign up by July 19 to participate.
