Parks & Rec March

This class offers students practice taking photographs with others who also enjoy taking pictures. Class includes discussions on photographic composition, critiques and field trips. Open to ages 18 and older using film or digital cameras. Class will be held on Saturdays, March 29 to May 10 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Douglas County recreation annex building in Gardnerville. Cost is $75.




Dog Obedience


Need help in establishing good conduct and curbing bad habits in your dog? Then this class is for you. Instructor Guy Yeaman uses a light-handed approach to help you teach your dog to obey the commands heal, sit, stand, stay and recall. Each dog must be at least 4 months old and have a choke chain and a fabric or leather lead. Class will be held on Wednesdays, Feb. 27 through April 16, at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Building. Cost is $75.




Ballroom Dance


Learn and practice the fundamentals of the fox trot, swing, waltz and many other Latin dances. This class is designed to provide dancers with confidence and knowledge for the dance floor. Class will be held on Fridays from 7 Ð 8 p.m. for Ballroom Dancing I and from 8-9 p.m. for Ballroom Dance 2. Class is held at the Dance Workshop located at 1697 County Road in Minden. Cost is $75 per couple and pre-registration is required.


Women's


Self-Defense


This class will explore both the mental and physical aspects of preventing attacks and the responses to an attack. Topics will include fear management, defense against bigger, stronger attackers, using awareness and prevention skills, protecting your family during crisis.


Class is open to ages 13 and older, 16 and younger must be accompanied by a parent. Class will be held at the High Desert Martial Arts/Sierra Dojo located at 1438 S. Industrial Way in Gardnerville. Cost is $20.
