Students receive top awards at festival


Seven members of the Carson Valley Sinfonia received excellent or superior ratings at the solo and ensemble festival held at Douglas High School on Feb. 9.

Those participating were Ally Reith, Brian Jaggard, Michelle Forman, Kody Miller and Andy Shao, violins; Megan Lamby, viola; Page Buckmaster, cello; Michelle Forman on violin, Megan Forman on flute and Lindsay Forman on piano.

The majority of the musicians are students of the Carson Valley Violin School founded in 1992 by John and Nelle O'Neill.

The school offers lessons on orchestral string instruments and co-sponsors, with Friends of the Carson Valley Youth Orchestra, the Carson Valley Sinfonia, a 25-piece student/community string orchestra.
