What was supposed to be tight races in California on Tuesday morning ended up being far more decisive wins for Arizona Sen. John McCain and New York Sen. Hillary Clinton.
With 88 percent of California precincts reporting, McCain holds a nearly 9 point lead over opponent Mitt Romney. Clinton leads rival Sen. Barack Obama by more than 10 points, according to the California Secretary of State's Office at 5:09 a.m.
In Mono County, Obama won 54 percent of the vote, while Clinton took 37.5 percent and John Edwards received 6.1 percent. Alpine County showed similar results, following rural Nevada's trend in the race.
