Douglas lineman signs with Nevada today



Douglas High School 2007 Lineman of the Year Jeff Nady has verbally committed to the University of Nevada, Reno.


Nady's father, Joe, and Coach Mike Rippee confirmed the defensive standout with the Tigers signed with the Wolf Pack.


Joe Nady said his son had narrowed the field down to Colorado State and Nevada.


"It was a tough choice for him," Nady said. "Nevada has always been there and attended all his games."


Nady said Wolf Pack Head Football Coach Chris Ault and Assistant Football Coach Cameron Norcross met with he and Jeff on Saturday morning.


"He likes the tradition and the coach wants to make Nevada a top 25 program and Jeff is pretty fired up," Joe Nady said.


Rippee said the signing will answeer the question of where Jeff will be going.


"I know they're glad to have the process out of the way," Rippee said. "Now Jeff can focus ending up with a great basketball year. It's nice to know where your future lies and where you're going be."


Rippee said it is an opportunity for the Tigers tight end and defensive lineman to continue playing football.


"It's a great opportunity to continue playing football and play close to home," Rippee said. "Jeff was one of the lucky ones to get it."


Nady was offered a full-ride scholarship at the University of Nevada, Reno.
