Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department offers classes for children, youth and adults. Classes require preregistration. Information at 1327 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville, 782-9828.

Kindermusik. For infants to age 7 to learn direction, guidance and responsiveness through music. Classes are on Wednesdays starting January 21. Cost is $130.

Watercolor basics. Covers basic watercolor procedures, techniques and styles. Classes are 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 6 to Feb. 24, at the TRE building. Cost is $125.

Ballroom dance. Learn and practice the fundamentals of the fox trot, swing, waltz and Latin dances. Classes are 7-8 p.m. Fridays, Jan. 9 to Jan. 30, for adults at the Dance Workshop, 1697 County Road in Minden. Cost is $75 per couple.

Scrapbooking workshop. Bring photos along with albums, adhesives, papers and pens. Class is 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 10 at Gardnerville Elementary School. Cost, $10.

Concealed weapon certification. This course exceeds Nevada state concealed weapon requirements. Class is 6-9:30 p.m. Jan. 14 and Jan. 16 at the recreation annex building and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Douglas County Shooting Range. Cost, $90 plus $10 insurance fee.

Dog obedience helps establish good conduct and curb bad habits, 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 7 to Feb. 11, at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Building. Cost is $80.

Yoga focuses on the body, mind and spirit with concentration on control, stretching and breathing. Class is 9:30-11 a.m. or 7-8 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays Jan. 5-29 at the recreation annex, 1327 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville. Cost is $40.
