Historic home ranch hosts holiday toy exhibit

A special exhibit of antique toys, Christmas cards and holiday decorations will be on display at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Friday through Sunday.

The exhibit includes stuffed animals, dolls, card games and toys that were part of the childhood play of two generations of the Dangberg family. There are Kewpie dolls, early Mickey Mouse toys, cast-iron trains, Tinkertoys, Lincoln Logs, and the "Department Store" and "Sailor Boy" board games from the early 1900s.

Also on display are Christmas cards sent to the Dangberg family, vintage ornaments and an aluminum Christmas tree.

In keeping with the hospitality established by the Dangberg family, cookies and hot beverages will be offered. Live music will be provided by pianists playing a 1916 Knabe and Co. grand piano.

The exhibit is open 1- 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $3.00 for adults, free for children 12 and younger. Remember to dress in warm clothing.

The park is at 1450 Highway 88, just south of Minden. A map showing the location of the park can be found at parks.nv.gov/hr.htm. Regular park tours not offered during this event. Information, 783-9417.
