The Douglas High boys' basketball team picked up its first win of the season in dramatic fashion Friday evening as CJ Marcotte made a driving lay-up at the buzzer to give the Tigers a 68-67 win in the consolation bracket of the Wild West Shootout at Reno High School.

Douglas trailed by as many as 10 points late in the game, but rallied with an impressive 30-point fourth quarter for the win.

The Tigers overcame a slow start, getting outscored 14-4 in the first quarter, and narrowed the gap to 28-25 heading into the locker room for halftime.

Michael Whalin led Douglas with 16 points and a 3-pointer while Tim Rudnick had 13 points and Marcotte finished with 10 and a 3-pointer.

The Tigers' trend of balanced scoring continued as nine players put points on the board. Parker Robertson finished with eight points, Nick Hales, Austin Neddenriep and Cale Pete each had six, Jorey Scott scored two and Garrett Getty finished with one.

Douglas (1-2) was scheduled to take on Manogue Saturday afternoon in the consolation final of the tournament.
