The R-C Morning Report

Residents of the Round Hill General Improvement District will get a do-over for trustee election thanks to an error on the ballot. The district miscounted the number of seats open in the election, so voters were told to cast ballots for two, not three open seats. According to Clerk-Treasurer Ted Thran, that means they get a new election to be held on Jan. 13, which will cost the district $6,450.

Gardnerville kicks off meeting week at 4:30 p.m. today, but if they're still meeting at 5:30 p.m. it will be a big surprise. Today will be longtime board member Randy Slater's last meeting. New town board member Robin Bernhard will be sworn in, as will returning board member Paul Lindsay.

Genoans will discuss the continuing negotiations between the town and independent vendors over an agreement on joining forces for the 2009 Candy Dance. We may also get to hear an accounting of the 2008 Candy Dance. Genoans meet at 7 p.m. in the Genoa Town Hall. It will be the last meeting for board members Bill Donohoe and Kitty De Socio. There's still a vacancy on the board, if any Genoans are interested.

It was 70 degrees in Minden on Monday, so a forecast calling for a high Tuesday of 59 degrees might be understating it a bit. The wind is supposed to pick up today as a disturbance moves through, but don't look for a substantial change in the weather. There's no moisture in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service. It's warm out this morning with 53 degrees at 3 a.m.
