Obituary: Robert William Munson

A funeral service and interment is 11:15 a.m. Thursday at Riverside National Cemetery for Hemet, Calif., resident Robert William Munson, 88, who died Nov. 22, 2008 at his home.

Born Dec. 27, 1919, in Norwalk, Calif., he retired as chief of staff of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department and Rockwell International.

Mr. Munson was a member of the American Legion Post, Inglewood, Calif.; Hemet High Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 12023; and the Hemet Elks Lodge No. 1740.

He was an instructor who served with the Boy Scouts for 15 years and received the Silver Beaver Award. He loved to fish and camp.

Mr. Munson is survived by his wife of 59 years, Genevieve of Hemet; sons Jon of Moreno Valley and Brian of Gardnerville; and grandchildren Suzi, Scott and Patrick.
