The Genoa Court House is on the cover of Nevada Lawyer Magazine as an illustration for a feature on Douglas County's Ninth Judicial District Court. There's a history of the court and a feature on Douglas judges Dave Gamble and Michael Gibbons. I'm not sure you could find a copy on the stands, so visit the bar's Web site at www.nvbar.org and look under publications for the link.

The Minden-Douglas Elks serving tacos at their lodge on Pit Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos 5-7 p.m. today. The tacos are $1.50 each. Proceeds go to support Elks' causes.

It's going to be hot today, but if the National Weather Service's forecast is correct, it will get a lot cooler by Labor Day. They're predicting a high of 74 degrees on the other side of a front rolling through on Saturday. Wind gusts on the first day of the three-day weekend will hit 25 mph.
