Today is the first day of school for Douglas elementary students. Buses will be running in the next hour. Remember, school starting means school zones will be operating again. Children will be walking across some of our busiest thoroughfares to get to and from school, so keep an eye out for them.
The Record-Courier lost its voice to layoffs on Tuesday. Barbara Gerber, who greeted folks when they came in or called for a decade, was laid off when her position was cut. The R-C also lost a wonderful set of hands in our circulation assistant Mike Marrs. Good luck and godspeed.
It will be sunny and cool today with a high of 88 degrees and a light breeze 5-15 mph coming up this afternoon. Thursday will be the same.
