Annual antique tractor show in north Valley this weekend

This could be the lucky 13th Antique Tractor & Engine Show this weekend for someone who's always wanted to own a working piece of history.

The raffle prize this year is a Farmall Model A restored to its working condition, according to show spokesman Ron Domoe.

Organizers are expecting at least 100 tractors and 100 engines hooked to different displays at the show sponsored by the Northern Nevada Antique Power Club and hosted by Bill and Dorine Ramsden.

This year's show is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and features tractor pulls, hay wagon backing and a balancing platform.

The tractor parade will be 10 a.m. Saturday and a bit earlier on Sunday, Domoe said.

"It just keeps getting bigger and better," he said. "We've got a bigger swap areas, that will include tractor and antique car items."

The Ramsden property is located on Heybourne Road about a block north of Stephanie Way. It features several buildings constructed by Bill Ramsden as exhibits.

Domoe said one of the exhibits will be Ramsden's Packard showcase.

"The neat thing is that he drives them every day," he said. "These cars run on the road."

Domoe is working on a 1944D tractor in preparation for this year's 100 horsepower maximum tractor pull.

"I've lived around tractors all my life," he said. "I've been a machinist for 30 years."

Admission is $5 at the gate with children under 12 free. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Food is provided by the Carson Valley Sertoma Club.
