A Gardnerville Ranchos family is out of their home after a fire this evening.
The fire at the 1,500-sqare-foot home located at 1321 Mary Jo was reported at 7:05 p.m.
When firefighters arrived at the home, they found the back porch and part of the back fence ablaze.
Firefighters doused the fire in the rear of the home, but its shake shingles continued to burn for about an hour.
Firefighters from the Gardnerville Ranchos, Gardnerville, Sheridan Acres, Fish Springs and Ruhenstroth helped fight the blaze as scores of spectators watched.
Mary Jo Drive was closed to allow emergency personnel to work.
The home, a rental, was rendered uninhabitable by the blaze.
No information about the cause or amount of damage was available.
