Earthquake felt in Carson Valley

A 4.7 magnitude earthquake centered northwest of Mogul could be felt in Carson Valley at 11:39 p.m. Friday. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was lioght and was followed by lighter earthquakes over the next 10 minutes.

The earthquake was felt as a rolling motion in Genoa. No Carson Valley damage was apparent from the temblor.

The University of Nevada Seizmology Lab lists two reports people felt the quake from southern Carson City, which includes Genoa. Five people reported the quake in central Carson City and two reported in in northern Carson.

Reports came from as far away as Marysville, Calif., 139 kilometers from the center.

This latest quake, centered west of Reno along Interstate 80 is the largest of the swarm, which has been shaking
