-- The Valley Cruisers Car Club Embezzlement Reimbursement Car Parts and Rummage Sale is 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at WT Cool Cars, 2480 Precision Way, Unit K, in the Johnson Lane area.

Club donations support the Carson Valley Community Food Closet, Family Support Council, Douglas County Senior Center, Project Santa Claus, City of Refuge, Douglas County Sheriff's Search & Rescue and Douglas High School.

-- World T'ai Chi/QiGong Day is observed 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in Minden Park. The free event is open to the public and sponsored by the Carson Valley T'ai Chi Club and Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department. Group warm-up exercises and QiGong routines by Earl Mussett begin at 10 a.m. with demonstrations by area T'ai Chi instructors introduced every half-hour until noon. Massage therapist Rick Eyester discusses massage methods.

-- The 16th annual Carson Valley Sertoma Chili Cookoff and Craft Fair is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Carson Valley Inn parking lot. Red chili-, green chili- and salsa-makers compete for a slot in the World Championship Cookoff. Event features 70 craft vendors, food services, music by Carl and the Classics, raffles and contests for Miss Chili Pepper and Mr. Hot Sauce and a Shout and Holler competition.

Food includes steak burgers, hot dogs and Sertoma Chili, soft drinks, beer and wine.

-- The Carson Valley Kiwanis Club's 10th annual Stars of Tomorrow talent show is Saturday at the CVIC Hall, 1604 Esmeralda Ave. in Minden. The Kiwanis produce the event for ninth to 12th grade students to show their performing talents and have a chance to win scholarships from $200 to $1,500.


This year's talent includes 18 area students performing lyrical and jazz dance, individual and duo singing, poetry reading, and singers, pianists and violinists.

The event begins at 6 p.m. with a silent auction to raise funds for the Kiwanis Club scholarship programs. The auction includes gift baskets, gift certificates for meals, a frozen locally grown lamb, spa passes and massages, tire services and golf.


Performances begin at 7 p.m. Tickets sold by Kiwanis Club members for $10 for adults, $5 for children and $30 for a family of four or more. Tickets also at the door. Information, 265-7651.



-- The Sierra Nevada Active 20-30 Club hosts their fourth annual Spring Fashion Show Extravaganza, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at Genoa Lakes Golf Course. The benefit features a wine lunch, silent auction, raffle and fashion show. Proceeds benefit special needs children and their programs in Douglas County.

Participating stores include Belle's Boutique, Baby Willow's, Maurice's, Village Mountain Surf Shop, Especially For You and the Pro Shop for this year's runway fashions. The event showcases clothing for men, women and children for any occasion.
