New R&T Cleaners opens in old spot

Sparks resident Norm Davis has purchased and opened The New R&T Cleaners where the old R&T Cleaners was located in Gardnerville.

"We are pleased to continue to employ the same local staff that is familiar to the many R&T customers," Davis said in a press release.

Davis owns Peerless Cleaners of Reno, a five-store, home and office pick up/delivery service specializing in environmentally-friendly dry cleaning.

"The New R&T Cleaners no longer processes dry cleaned garments using perchlorethylene, also known as 'Perc,'" said Davis. "All dry cleaned garments are now processed using the latest in non-hazardous, non-toxic dry cleaning technology."

The New R&T Cleaners is located at 1389 Lampe Lane and is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

Surgery center new to Indian Hills

A new outpatient surgery center is open in Indian Hills.

Carson Douglas Ambulatory Surgery Center offers orthopedics, ear, nose and throat surgery, gynecology, general surgery and pain management.

"The surgical center is composed of experienced, dedicated health care professionals," said administrator Laura Dahlin Strong.

Carson Douglas Ambulatory Surgery Center is located at 973 Mica Drive and is open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The center will be hosting an open house 5 p.m. April 30. For more information call 267-2992.

Chase takes over Eagle Ridge sites

Chase International has announced it will represent the Eagle Ridge at Genoa development, overseeing the sale of the remaining 33 home sites.

Cattle association offers scholarship

The Nevada Cattlemen's Association is offering a $1,000 scholarship for graduating high school seniors planning on attending a junior college or four-year university.

Applicants must have at least a 2.5 grade point average and three letters of recommendation from teachers. They must also write a 1,000-word essay on the beef industry. Application deadline is May 5.
