Dorothy S. Barnes


1925-2007


A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden for Dorothy S. Barnes, 81, who died Sept. 25, 2007, in Minden.


Mrs. Barnes was born Oct. 3, 1925, in New Hampshire to Hugh and Carrie Wheeler Sawyer. She and her late husband Ralph Dudley, traveled from Maine with their newborn son, Rick to Minden where they were one of the first homesteaders on Johnson Lane in 1955. She married Darwin Barnes, Aug. 24, 1985, in Sun Valley.


She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Dudley. She is survived by her husband Darwin Barnes of Minden; her son Rick Dudley of Minden, stepson Daniel Barnes and wife Kathy of Minden, LeRoy Barnes of Carson City; daughters Marilyn Dudley of Hesperia, Calif., Susan Dudley of Minden and stepdaughter Brenda Barnes of Reno. She is also survived by her brother Fredrick Sawyer of Ariz.; her sister Elizabeth Wolfe of Chico, Calif.; as well as 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City.




John Joseph McCann


1929-2007


A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Tahoe Christian Fellowship in South Lake Tahoe for John Joseph McCann, 77, who died Sept. 23, 2007, at Evergreen Healthcare in Carson City.


Mr. McCann was born Sept. 24, 1929, in Camden, N.J., to John J. and Grace Kelly McCann. He was a resident of Anaheim prior to moving to Carson City 25 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked in the gaming industry after his discharge from service. He enjoyed listening to jazz, dancing and was a football enthusiast.


Mr. McCann was preceded in death by his parents and his sister. He is survived by his sons Daniel McCann of Redlands, Calif., Jim McCann of Kiev, Ukraine; Gary McCann of Anaheim and John McCann of Alpine, Calif.; his daughters Colleen Logsdon of Louisville, Ky., and Donna McCann of Carson City; his brother Ray McCann of New Jersey; his sister Colleen Tanzi of Maryland and 14 grandchildren.


Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Funeral Home with cremation to take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.




Scott Allen Schroeder


1958-2007


No services are planned for Scott Allen Schroeder, 49, who died Sept. 7, 2007 in Sacramento, from asthma-related heart failure.


Mr. Schroeder was born April 30, 1958. He attended schools in Douglas County between 1969 to 1975. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a great chef and he loved all sports, especially NASCAR.


Mr. Schroeder was preceded in death by his father Roger W. Schroeder and his sister Sandy Schroeder in 2003. He is survived by his son John W. Schroeder, who is serving in the U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Stewart, Ga.; his mother Harlene Lane of Sacramento, his brother Arthur Gene Lane, nephews Andrew Schroeder of Fernley and Stephan Wood and family of Sacramento; a niece Ashley of Stagecoach; his Uncle Harold of Oildale, Calif. and his stepfather Gene Lane and family of Washington.


Arrangements were in the care of North Sacramento Funeral Home. Mr. Schroeder was cremated. Condolences may be sent to Harlene Lane, 7309 Power Inn Road, Sacramento, CA 95828.
