Volleyball: Tiger spikers sweep past North Valleys

The top-ranked Douglas High volleyball team capped an impressive week with a three-game sweep over North Valleys in Reno Thursday night.


The Tigers won three matches in three days, including two over ranked opponents to push their record on the year to 20-3 overall and 4-0 in legaue play.


With the sweep, Douglas also pushed their games won streak to an impressive 15.


The Tigers are now 9-0 against Northern Nevada opponents this season and 4-0 on the road.


Against North Valleys, Douglas got balanced production from its entire roster as Jourdan Burke and Taryn Williams each had five kills, Christine DuPuis had four, Bridget Maestretti and Jessica Waggoner each had two and Melissa Brown, Jordan Marsh, Megan Mitchell and Alyssa Todd each had one.

Waggoner turned in four blocks, Brown had three and Burke, Allie Hughes, Maestretti and Marsh each had two. Mitchell and Todd each posted one block.


Hughes dished out 14 assist while Mitchell had eight. Hughes added four aces, DuPuis had three, Mary Lombino and Marsh each had two and Brown, Mysta Townsell, Waggoner and Williams each had one.


Lobino led the Tigers in digs with eight while Burke and Williams each had three and Hughes, Townsell and Waggoner each had two.


Douglas hosts South Tahoe Tuesday and travels to Hug next Thursday.
