An 8-year-old Minden Elementary School third-grader collapsed 10:23 a.m. Saturday while participating in flag football practice.
The boy was taken to Minden Medical Center where medical personnel attempted to revive him.
Douglas County Deputy Coroner Sgt. Bernadette Smith reported that advanced lifesaving resuscitation efforts were attempted and that Care Flight Ambulance was standing by to take him to Reno.
The boy's parents were at the medical center when he was pronounced dead at 11:35 a.m.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Smith said.
