Rotary donates to 22 local organizations


The Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club demonstrated the club's motto of "Service above self" and continued 45 years of community service by donating more than $44,000 to 22 local organizations.

The results of Rotary's fundraising efforts were presented to Whittell High School, South Lake Tahoe Women's Center, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Carson Valley Children's Center/Austin's House, Lake Tahoe Unified School District, Boys & Girls clubs of Lake Tahoe and Douglas County, City of Refuge, HERO Scholarships, Leadership Lake Tahoe, Community Youth Sports Complex, Barton Hospital Foundation, Family Resource Center, Douglas County Search and Rescue, Tahoe Arts Project, Cub Scout Pack 468, Relay for Life, Sierra Recovery Center, AYSO, Animal Coalition of Tahoe, Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation and Tahoe Youth and Family Services.

The Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club also awarded academic scholarships to 13 students: Megan Esquivel, Willis Hughes, Siobhan Curley, Katherine Grasso, Blake Bourne, Tyson Guajardo, Katherine Chambers, Claire McLeod, Kristin Ratz and Kelly Karmann from Whittell and David Martin, Krisztina Kotka and Carly Stauffacher from Lake Tahoe Community College.
