Candy dance tickets on sale

There are 500 tickets for the Genoa Candy Dance dinner dance on sale now until Sept. 21 at various Carson Valley locations.

The dinner dance, 6-10 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Orchard House in Genoa, will be a Tex-Mex buffet catered by David Walley's. The menu includes chicken and beef tacos, pork tamales, cheese enchiladas, sliced beef in Tex-Mex sauce, rice, beans and tortillas. Dessert is provided by John Ascuaga's Nugget. Beer, wine, margaritas and soft drinks will be sold at a no-host bar.

Live music will be performed by the Dealer's Choice band joined by guest fiddler Lolli Jones. Originally from Gardnerville, Dealer's Choice specializes in dance music, playing country songs along with classic rock and pop selections. The Dealer's Choice band is:

-- Dennis Richardson on guitar and vocals. Richardson has played clubs, concerts and fairs in Nevada and California for the past 20 years.

-- Kevin Hayes on drums and vocals. A native of New York, Hayes graduated from Long Island University with a bachelors degree in music. He has worked in clubs and casinos in Los Angeles and Las Vegas and has opened for the Neville Brothers at the 1992 New Orleans Mardi Gras and played with Star Search winner, Jenny Jones.

-- Don Helwig on bass guitar and vocals. Helwig has 20 years experience playing clubs in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest.

-- The band will be joined by Lolli Jones on fiddle and mandolin. Jones has performed with Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and others. She has appeared in television shows and production shows in Reno, Laughlin and Branson, Mo.

All tickets are sold in advance, none will be available at the door. Cost is $20 for adults, $12 for children age 12 and younger.
