Family Support Council hosts Autumn Shindig



Kick off the fall season and kick up your dancing shoes at Family Support Council's Autumn Shindig on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Valley View Ranch, 1701 Pinenut Road, Gardnerville.


The fundraising event begins at 4 p.m. with dinner served at 5 p.m. and features live music by the Motifs, dinner, dance contests and raffle prizes.


"This event will be a great evening out for local couples and groups of friends," said Kristie Traver, executive director of Family Support Council. "We have some great raffle prizes and the dance contests will be entertaining for participants as well as those of us viewing from the sidelines. We really encourage people to attend and enjoy themselves, all while supporting the Family Support Council's vital community programs."


Tickets are $50 per person and are available at the Family Support Council office, 1255 Waterloo or at the door. All proceeds from the Autumn Shindig support Family Support Council programs.


The mission of the Family Support Council is to promote individual and family dignity and respect by means of education, prevention and intervention, giving all members of the community an opportunity to live lives free of family violence.


The council offers a 24-hour domestic violence/sexual assault crisis line, emergency shelter, court advocacy, domestic violence, caregiver and teen support groups, parenting education classes, case management for families facing various crises, information and referral services.
