The R-C Morning Report

An Indian Hills man who told deputies he didn't know he'd knocked down a toddler with his pickup truck is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court today for sentencing. John A. Tabor, 25, is charged with one count of failing to stop at an injury accident. The incident occurred on May 13. The 3-year-old girl received a scraped elbow but was not seriously injured, according to prosecutor Mike McCormick.

While Tabor tested positive for alcohol at the scene, a driving under the influence charge was dismissed.

On Monday, I wrote that Thomas J. Farrahy, 50, was the first instance of a deferral for third DUI. While his case was the first to appear in Douglas District Court, his sentencing was not because of a delay while he entered a treatment program.

Another series of squalls hit Carson Valley on Monday, this time a little more spread out than Sunday's storm. The rain gauge at Meneley Elementary School showed .07 inches of rain on Monday. The National Weather Service radar shows areas along the ridge of the Carson Range received up to a half inch of rain from the storm, with up to a fifth of an inch along Foothill.

The forecast for today is for a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Winds will stay light at 5-10 mph. The high will hit 65 degrees. All the weather should clear out in time for Trick-or-Treating on Wednesday.
