It couldn't have gotten much closer between teams so evenly matched, but when the dust cleared on Thursday night's regular-season finale between the Douglas and Reno volleyball teams in Reno, the Tigers emerged with the five-game victory and the Sierra League title.

Reno jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the fifth game, but Douglas went on a 10-0 run to gain the momentum before pushing ahead to the 25-20, 23-25, 17-25, 25-21, 15-13 win.

Taryn Williams had 16 kills and Jourdan Burke had 12 while Bridget Maestretti and Jessica Waggoner formed an impressive front with 18 and 17 blocks respectively.

Megan Mitchell had 39 assists, 11 blocks, four kills and four digs and Mary Lombino came up with five aces and 15 digs.

Mysta Townsell also had a breakout game, coming up with 11 digs, three assists and two aces.

The Tigers finished the regular season with a 31-1 record overall and a 13-1 slate in league play.
