Jeffrey Hugh Wright


1950-2007


A funeral service was Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Dayton, for Jeffrey Hugh Wright, 57, who died on Oct. 17, 2007, in Dayton.


He was born in Elko, July 17, 1950, to Henry Horace and Dorothy Wright. He lived in Sparks, graduating from Sparks High School in 1968. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 until 1974, receiving an honorable discharge from Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. He moved to Gardnerville, where he lived for 17 years, successfully operating his business, Jeff Wright Custom Cabinets and raising four daughters.


He later moved his business to Dayton and lived in Carson City and Sparks before settling in Dayton with his wife of 12 years, Terry Wright.


Mr. Wright enjoyed several hobbies throughout his life. He loved mountain biking and road cycling. He also enjoyed working on cars, and had a special interest in Gasser roadsters; he was renovating an Austin Devon A40. Jeff enjoyed taking road trips to enjoy the beautiful scenery.


He was a devout and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed attending weekly church meetings and was committed to service in his Dayton ward. He enjoyed woodworking, and throughout his life built up his business to serve families and businesses throughout Northern Nevada.


He had an exceptional talent in cabinetry, and took pride in all of his work. He was an honest and committed businessman, and worked hard to perfect his craft for his customers to enjoy.


His beautiful cabinetry can be found in hundreds of homes throughout the Northern Nevada region.


Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dorothy Wright. He is survived by his wife Terry Wright of Dayton; his daughters Tifini Wright of Medford, Ore.; Misti McDonald of Logandale; Briana Oliver of Medford, Ore.; and Ashleigh Matthias of Culver City, Calif.; two grandsons, Skylar and Trevor McDonald; his sister and brother-in-law Gillian and Tony Fiorini of Anaheim, Calif.; and nephew Mark Stovak of Wichita, Kan.


Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Carson City. Burial will take place at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City.


The family requests memorial donations be made in his name to the Nevada Humane Society, 200 Kresge Lane, Sparks, NV 89431.




James "Rickey" Jackson


1952-2007


A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville, for James "Rickey" Jackson, 55, who died Oct. 18, 2007, in Gardnerville.


Mr. Jackson was born July 3, 1952, in Blue Ridge, Ga., to James and Mary Lou Jackson. He graduated from Clovis High School in California and is a Fresno State alumni.


He was a Golden State Warriors season ticket holder for years and was an avid rock climber, climbing El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. He enjoyed hiking, doing a six month hike of the John Muir Trail.


A Harley enthusiast and president of the Long Riders Motorcycle Gang in Gardnerville, he was a friend to all, never meeting a stranger.


He moved to Gardnerville from San Francisco in 2002. While in San Francisco he worked as a furniture representative/buyer for various retail stores and manufactures. After moving to Gardnerville he worked as the head of payroll and safety officer for Jackson Quality Drywall.


Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his father, James Jackson. He is survived by his mother Mary Lou Grippi of Gardnerville; his four brothers Don L. Jackson and his wife Bonnie of Gardnerville; Stephen T. Jackson and his wife Amy of Gardnerville; William E. Jackson and his wife Flo of Reno; Michael F. Grippi of Hollywood, Calif.; his two sisters Debbie Thomas and her husband Larry of Minden, Michele McGriff of Jacksonville, Fla. and companion, Sandy Egoscue.


Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Douglas County Mortuary. There will be a visitation prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church.


There will also be a visitation today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden.
