Art students receive scholarships



The Carson Valley Art Association awards yearly scholarships to Douglas County high school students pursuing a career in art. This year's recipients are:


-- Ryan Bivens, from Whittell High School, receives a $500 CVAA scholarship through Lake Tahoe Community College, where he continues his education.


-- Tiffany Costantini, from Whittell High School, receives a $1,000 CVAA scholarship through Humbolt State University.


-- Lauren Miller, from Douglas High School, receives $500 through Loyola Marymount University.


-- Kevin Roberts, from Douglas High School, receives a $1,000 Elizabeth Johnson Memorial Scholarship through Western Nevada College.


Samples of the students' work will be displayed 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 2, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 3, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 4 at the CVAA Scholarship Benefit Show in the CVIC Hall in Minden.


Meet the 2007 scholarship recipients for refreshments at a reception, 6-8 p.m. Nov. 2. A raffle for prizes donated by local businesses is 2 -3 p.m. Nov. 4.


Artists interested in entering the show may pick up an application at Carson Valley art galleries. Artwork receiving is Nov. 1 at the CVIC Hall in Minden.
