-- Artisans International Gallery presents an exhibit of work on the theme of "Love Me Tender" by local artists in a variety of media Jan. 8 to Feb. 16.


Meet many of the featured artists at a reception, 3-5 p.m. Jan. 12. Light refreshments will be served.

-- Artist Dorrine Sadilek demonstrates her watercolor and collage process, 1-3 p.m. Jan. 12 at the East Fork Gallery, 1503 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Light refreshments will be served. Information, 782-7629.




-- Artists who may be interested in participating in the Carson Valley Open Studios Art Tour or the Carson City Open Studios Art Tour, are invited to review the guidelines and submit an application. The tours will take place the third and fourth weekends of June 2008. There will be individual art studio locations and also a group location for those who may not have adequate studio space.

-- The Genoa Antique Show and Sale with appraisal clinic is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19-20 at the Genoa Town Hall. Admission is $1.50 and appraisals are $5 per item with no limit to the number of items. The show benefits the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra which brings free concerts to Carson Valley.


The antiques show and appraisal clinic features textiles, estate jewelry, sun-purpled glass, toys, china, pottery, prints, country primitives, trunks, bottles, furniture and collectibles.


The show offers a verbal appraisal clinic for family treasures or items of unknown origin. Large items can be appraised from good photos. Thorough appraisers have given estimates on items worth $20,000 and others from $5 to $20.
