The R-C morning report

The Nevada Department of Wildlife's request for financial assistance is back before Douglas County commissioners at their regular meeting today. The state is also seeking support for a working group to deal with the bear issue. Commissioners will also discuss expanding the requirement for bear-proof trash cans into the rest of Douglas County and establishing design standards for bear-proof enclosures. Commissioners start their meeting at 10:30 a.m. at Stateline and then move to Carson Valley at 2 p.m.

In people news, the county is also being asked to accept a $500,000 grant to fund two new positions designed to curb domestic violence. District Attorney Mark Jackson is seeking a special victims investigator and an officer in the alternative sentencing department.

It shows a 20 percent chance of rain on the National Weather Service site, but today may turn out to be one of the nicer ones in a while. Another cold front is rolling in on Friday afternoon, bringing a high-wind watch with it. On the other side, the temperatures drop until Sunday when it is sunny again. The high today is expected to hit 63. The high Friday will get to 67 with showers likely Friday night. Saturday's high temperature will hit 44 degrees.
