Volleyball: Douglas tops Damonte Ranch

The Douglas High School volleyball team made it a clean sweep of Damonte Ranch, beating the defending state champions for the fourth time this season Thursday night.


The Tiger won 26-24, 27-25, 25-19.


Sophomore Jourdan Burke had 12 kills and an ace, Jessica Waggoner had 11 kills, five blocks and Taryn Williams had 10 kills, nine digs and nine service points.


Junior Megan Mitchell finished with a career-high 41 assists to go with four kills, five blocks, eight digs, four aces and nine service points.


Mary Lombino came up with eight digs and nine service points and Mysta Townsell led the defense with 10 digs.


Melissa Brown finished with six points, three aces and three blocks and Bridget Maestretti had four kills, three blocks and a dig.


Douglas improved to 27-4 overall and 9-1 in Sierra League.
