Artisans gallery hosts African group



African music group Anouaze Beat plays at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at Artisans International Gallery.


The group's mission share music, dance and culture and is led by Norbert Yao, originally from Ivory Coast, who plays the African drum or djembe. Bridet Isiranen, originally from Nigeria, and other African artists will be featured in the gallery. The group will offer dancing, African drumming and a discussion of cultural aspects of their native countries.


The gallery offers sales specials on African items including silver jewelry from Mali, batiks from Ghana and Ivory Coast, wooden animals from Senegal and Zambia, beaded and wire animals from South Africa, Zulu baskets from South Africa, winnowing baskets from Zimbabwe and items from Kenya and Congo-Zaire.


Artisans International Gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, at 1653 Lucerne St., Suite B, in Minden Village. Information, 783-8881.
