The R-C Morning Report

Meeting week kicks off with the Gardnerville Town Board at 4:30 p.m. in the town offices. Before town fathers will be a proposed zone change from neighborhood to general commercial for the Waterloo Center and the remodel of the Raley's and its attached shopping center.

At 7 p.m. Genoans meet to hear the first report on Candy Dance. Also before the board of Nevada's first settlement is a request by Alta Alpina bicycle club to hold the Genoa Cyclocross in town on Nov. 10 and a request by the Douglas County Historical Society for $500 for operational costs at the Genoa Courthouse Museum. The Minden Town Board meets Wednesday night. The town board meets in the meeting room of the Genoa Town Hall.

Meeting week will be a little short because Douglas County commissioners are out of town for the Nevada Association of Counties annual conference, which is being held in Elko this year. They'll be meeting Oct. 11 this month.

The temperatures in Genoa and Minden are right on the freezing bubble just before sunrise today. That bubble is expected to pop by Thursday when low temperatures dip into the 20s. The National Weather Service is forecasting a little bump in the weather that could bring rain Thursday night. But for today and Wednesday, the highs are expected to be in the 70s with afternoon breezes.
