Firefighters respond to wildland fire at base of Kingsbury

A wildland fire spurred by winds late Monday night spread to 3 and a half acres and threatened two homes.

Career and volunteer firefighters from the East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts, Sheridan, the Gardnerville Ranchos and Genoa responded to the fire at the intersection of Mottsville Lane and Jones Ranch Road at 11:30 p.m.

East Fork Fire Investigator Capt. Terry Taylor said the fire was accidental and appeared to be related to the disposal of fireplace ashes.
