The R-C Morning Report: It's windy out

A wind advisory is in effect for today until 4 p.m. as a cold front rolls into Western Nevada. The National Weather Service is forecasting winds of 20-30 mph with gusts of up to 55 mph. Stronger gusts are expected in the foothills and Genoa is called out by name for those.

Watch out for crosswinds on Highways 395, 50 and while it's not listed, I'm betting 88 won't be any picnic either. The only road control is the ban on campers and trailers on Highway 395 through Washoe Valley.

There's not much precipitation associated with this front, with only a 20 percent chance of moisture on the other side. But whatever comes down as snow in the mountains will be sticking around for awhile. The highs through Thanksgiving will be in the 40s and the lows will be in the 20s and teens. Once the wind dies down during the week, the high temperatures will creep back up toward the 50s, which is where the low is right now.
