Jacks Valley Elementary School is preparing its second annual Families Helping Families Thanksgiving Food Drive and needs turkey donations.
"We're teaching students about giving, about helping their community out," said Jacks Valley counselor Jackie Hostler.
Hostler said that families of students in the school donated everything but turkeys for the event. She said students in each class made baskets and chose what donated items they wanted for their baskets, save turkeys.
The school is looking for the community to help with the tasty birds, and will accept donations at the school during regular school hours until Nov. 20.
"On Wednesday, the principal and I will drop off the baskets to those families around us in need," said Hostler. "Last year, we gave away about 15 baskets."
