Girls' Basketball: CVMS wraps up season

The Carson Valley Middle School girls' basketball teams wrapped up their seasons with successful records.

The eight-grade girls finished 10-3 overall.

"These girls worked extremely hard all season and showed a lot of improvement," coach Mike Rechs said. "There were really dedicated and a lot of fun to coach."

Through the second half of the season, Carson Valley beat Alder Creek 33-16, getting 12 points from Katie Dry, six from Kelsie Walsh, five from Holly Downer and four from Renee Allen in her first game back from a foot injury.

Carson Valley then beat Eagle Valley, getting 17 points from Cassi Uhart and eight from Dry.

Walsh led the team with 10 points in a loss to Carson, but Carson Valley bounced back to beat South Tahoe 36-2 as 10 of the 12 players on the Tigers' roster scored. Uhart led the way with nine points and Downer scored seven.

Walsh scored six in an 18-14 win over Pau-Wa-Lu as Carson Valley finished the regular season in second place with an 8-2 league record.

In the league tournament, Carson Valley again beat Pau-Wa-Lu, this time 20-15, as Uhart scored seven points and Downer added six.

Carson took the league championship with a 46-23 win in the title game. Dry had 10 points for Carson Valley and Uhart finished with seven.

The remainder of Carson Valley's roster included Christina Beaty, Amanda Caras, Hannah Ediss, Jazz Halow, Brianna Randall, Amanda Wartgow and Savannah Wood/

The seventh-grade girls finished the season with an 8-4 record overall and a 7-3 slate in league play.

Carson Valley beat Alder Creek, Eagle Valley, South Tahoe and Pau-Wa-Lu and lost to Carson in the second half of the season.

Against Alder Creek, Jordan Chappell and Diana Regalado each finished with eight points, Erica Munoz had six, MacKenzie Parks scored four and Lexie Weaver and Taylor Bailey each had two.

Regalado led the way against Eagle Valley with 10 points while Chappell had five and Weaver led the team with seven against Carson.

Regalado scored 13 against South Tahoe and 16 against Pau-Wa-Lu.

"The girls worked very hard for the entire season," coach Kevin Huff said. "They continued to improve each game and they were a pleasure to work with."
