The R-C Morning Report

Attendance at Carson Valley rancher Arnold Settelmeyer's celebration of life this afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville is expected to be substantial. Settelmeyer was a popular member of the community and I'm anticipating a large number of people to come and pay their respects. The Walton's online guest registry is up and running at http://waltons.lifefiles.com/registryGuestbookView.php?i_memorialid=1180114952

The service is at 1 p.m. Trinity is located on Douglas Avenue at Mill Street. A memorial scholarship has been set up at Douglas High School in Settelmeyer's name.

Highway work will continue in the median of Highway 395 between Muller Lane and Carson City between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. There's a survey crew working in the median and sometimes they're closing a lane. Watch out for the orange signs reducing the speed limit to 55 mph.

The Highway fire is out, but a check of the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center call log reveals there's lots of places where a fire could have started and didn't, including a smoldering stump near Spooner Summit on Friday afternoon.
