Albert Pete Colato

1914-2007

Albert Pete Colato, 92, died at his Gardnerville home, May 16, 2007. He was born Aug. 18, 1914, in London, England, to Enrico and Maria Colato. His parents owned three hotels and he traveled throughout Europe learning the hotel business. Living in Austria and being an avid snow skier, he skied in the 1934 Winter Olympics.

He was also an engineer, inventor and a pilot in the RAF on Winston Churchill's staff. Mr. Colato was on the first non-stop trans-atlantic flight, designing the present day airline galleys and the food service system still used in hospitals today. Mr. Colato met his wife of 67 years in Canada. They moved to Southern California in 1955 and then to Gardnerville in 1998.

He was preceded in death by his parents; older brothers Arthur and Etore, one sister Elena and his daughter Charmane.

He is survived by his wife Bunnie Colato of Gardnerville; sons and daughters-in-law Brian and Helen Colato and Rod and Kit Colato. Grandchildren Peter Colato, Sandra and Will Jensen, Scott and Allyson Colato, all of Gardnerville; granddaughters Dina and Dan Borg, Michelle and Nick Monaco of California; great-grandchildren Andrew and Joshua Jensen, Alec and Brenden Monaco, Daniel and Dominic Borg. He also leaves his schnauzer, Ace.

Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville. Cremation took place at FitzHenry's in Carson City. There will be a celebration of Mr. Colato's life at the home of Rod and Kit Colato 1 p.m. June 10. Friends may contact the family at 783-1511 for directions.

Thomas Morris Snyder

1924-2007

A celebration of life will take place 1 p.m. June 8 at the Hilltop Community Church, 3616 Sunridge Drive, Carson City, for third-generation native Nevadan Thomas Morris Snyder, 82, who died May 7, 2007, in a Las Vegas hospital after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Snyder was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Yerington to Morris and Pauline Snyder. He has been a resident of Minden for 33 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother Jerry Snyder.

He is survived by his wife Betty Snyder of Minden; son Scott Snyder of Washoe Valley; daughter Ann Peckham of Yuma, Ariz.; stepchildren Gary Johnson of Hawaii, Donna Johnson of San Diego, Bonnie Johnson of Minden as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Gregory C.

'Curt' Cooper

1958-2007

Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Monday, at the Eastside Memorial Park for Gregory C. "Curt" Cooper, 49, who died May 24, 2007, in Albuquerque, N.M.

He was born May 18, 1958, in Casper, Wyo.

He was preceded in death by his son Anthony Tony Cooper. He is survived by his wife Lorena, his mother and stepfather Andre and Frances Houle; son Gregory; daughter Nelda; stepdaughter Nichole, stepson Brendan, stepbrother Lynn Potter and family as well as his granddaughter Timber.

A gathering for family and friends will take place immediately after the service at 1439 Annkim Circle, Gardnerville.
