Requests for community service project funding invited



Soroptimists International of Carson Valley is now inviting applicants to submit requests for funding for community service projects that benefit the community, women and children in particular. The funding will be awarded to all of the recipients at a luncheon to be held in October.


The Soroptimist International is the world's largest classified service organization for executive and professional women for the purpose of providing service locally, nationally, and around the world. There are over 100,000 members from 123 countries who volunteer their time and efforts in order to promote and improve the quality of life for all people.


Fundraisers are held by Soroptimists International of Carson Valley throughout the year in order to raise funds for community projects. In the past, our service projects have included the Abbey Crossing Women's Shelter, Family Support Council, Senior Citizens Center, Meals on Wheels, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Heritage Park, Student Scholarships, Student Achievement Awards and luncheons, Halloween Safe Street, A Fighting Chance, Project Santa Claus, Carson River cleanup, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Swing for a Cure, Day of Unity, MammoVan, Ronald McDonald Camp, Soroptimist Smile, Carson-Tahoe Cancer Center and many other community and global projects.


The deadline for submitting applications for all funding requests is June 30. Applications may be obtained by contacting any Soroptimist member or by picking an application up at the following locations: Artisans International, Nevada State Bank, Carson Valley Market/76 Gas Station, Carson Valley Mortgage, Historian Inn, Nevada Property Mortgage, Stewart Title and Sierra Nevada Trading Co.
