An 18-year-old Minden youth who admitted selling 3 ounces of cocaine to undercover Douglas County officers faces up to 15 years in prison and a $100,000 fine at his sentencing June 12 on a trafficking charge.
Elliot Liebowitz, who was 17 when the transactions occurred in January, told Judge Dave Gamble he accepted the money and delivered the drugs to officers between Jan. 5 and Jan. 18.
In exchange for his guilty plea, the state has agreed to recommend a sentence of two to five years.
He is not eligible for probation.
Two co-defendants pleaded guilty April 10 before Gamble and are set for sentencing May 29.
Liebowitz's father submitted a request to Gamble that his son be released from Douglas County Jail on his own recognizance. His bail is $50,000 cash.
Prosecutor Kris Brown objected.
"He faces mandatory prison and he was previously released and living with his parents when deputies were called to the house April 10 for the report of a loud party," she said.
She said several party-goers fled the premises and Liebowitz refused to answer the door.
Chief Probation Officer Doug Swalm confirmed the suspect was inside because of a GPS tracking system and finally, his father answered the door.
The younger Liebowitz had been drinking in violation of house arrest conditions and was returned to Douglas County Jail.
"Without even paying any particular attention to the party, the bail is appropriate for this crime," Gamble said.
